Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 July 2026

These terms cover how you use Isle of Culture. Please have a read — by using the site, you agree to them.

1. Who we are and acceptance

Isle of Culture is run by Isle of Culture CIC, a community interest company registered in England and Wales (“we”, “us”, “our”; company number 17069892). By using Isle of Culture you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

2. The service

Isle of Culture is a free, not-for-profit community guide that helps people discover cultural events and venues across Thanet, and lets organisers and venues list and manage their events. We may add, change, or remove features at any time, and we cannot promise the site will always be available without interruption.

3. Accounts and eligibility

You can browse Isle of Culture without an account. To submit or manage events or venues you need to register. When you do, you agree that:

  • you are 18 or over and are acting for yourself or an organisation you are authorised to represent;
  • the information you give us is accurate and kept up to date;
  • you will keep your login details secure and not share your account; and
  • you are responsible for activity that takes place under your account.

4. Acceptable use

Please use Isle of Culture lawfully and respectfully. In particular, you must not:

  • publish content that is unlawful, infringing, misleading, defamatory, offensive, or harmful;
  • impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your identity;
  • attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service; or
  • scrape, harvest, or bulk-extract data from the platform without our written permission.

5. Your submissions

When you submit an event, venue, image, or other content, you confirm that you have the rights to it and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights. You keep ownership of what you submit, and you give us permission to host, display, and promote it on and in connection with Isle of Culture. Submissions are checked before they go live — by an administrator or the relevant venue manager — and we may edit, decline, or remove any submission, so we cannot guarantee that everything submitted will be published.

6. Venue listings and claims

You can ask to manage a venue listing. To help prevent misuse, a request may be approved automatically where your email address matches the venue's published domain; otherwise we review it. If you manage a venue, you are responsible for keeping its details accurate and for the events approved under it. Some venue listings are compiled from publicly available sources; if a listing is about you and you want it corrected or removed, email us at hello@isleofculture.org.

7. Third-party content and accuracy

Event and venue details come from organisers and venues, or are compiled from public sources, and they can change. We do our best to keep them right, but we cannot guarantee they are accurate, complete, or up to date — so please check with the organiser or venue before you travel or buy tickets. The site may link to other websites, including external ticketing providers; we are not responsible for those sites, and their own terms and privacy policies apply when you use them.

8. Intellectual property

The Isle of Culture name, branding, design, and code belong to us or our licensors, and you may not copy or reuse them without our permission. As set out in section 5, you keep ownership of the content you submit. If you believe content on Isle of Culture infringes your rights, email us at hello@isleofculture.org and we will review it.

9. Availability and disclaimer

We provide the site as it is, and as available. We do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or that every listing is correct.

10. Our responsibility to you

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or knock-on losses from using the site, or for the accuracy of listings or the conduct of any organiser, venue, or third party. Nothing here removes or limits our liability where it would be unlawful to do so — including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud. If you use the site as a consumer, you keep all the rights the law gives you, and these terms do not affect them.

11. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the site or ask us to close your account at any time. We may suspend or remove your account, or remove content, if you break these terms or where we reasonably need to protect the site or other users. We may also stop providing the site, in whole or in part.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make significant changes we will update the “Last updated” date above. If you keep using Isle of Culture after a change, that means you accept the updated terms.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes fall to the courts of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of the law where you live.

14. Contact
