About this event
A 90-minute feature documentary from director Leigh Brooks ( Hate to Love: Nickelback , Netflix; The Sound of Scars , Prime Video), Magic in the Mundane is a cinematic journey into the overlooked miracles of everyday existence. It gathers philosophers, psychedelic guides, death doulas, trauma workers, ritual keepers and pilgrims to ask one question: who are we, when no one is watching?
It's intimate, expansive, unsettling and visually stunning in turns — the kind of film that makes you lean in, sit back, then lean in again. Nothing is wrapped up neatly. Every topic is an open door.
Why it belongs at Sporefaring
If you're the kind of person who ended up at a mushroom festival in Thanet in October, this film was basically made for you. It sits at the same crossroads we do — the psychedelic renaissance, death-positive thinking, ritual and meaning-making outside traditional religion, and what trauma does to the way people see the world. Fans of Baraka , Waking Life , and How to Change Your Mind will find familiar territory here, but the film has its own voice.
Live Q&A
