Let's celebrate the family ancestors who have opened doors for us and share with our children to know that they can be tomorrow's heroes.
During this year's Black History Month we would like to 'Honour Those Who Opened the Doors' for us to follow.
We will look at a few of those unsung heroes who fought great fights to get access to those areas. Their efforts made it possible for other black people to follow in them into those areas.
We, too, have some of those people within our own families. Those who opened the doors to areas that our families hadn't been into before. Parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles please share your family members with your children so that they can share them with us and we can celebrate them.
We operate a tech and parent free zone for children 6-13years. This way the children work together to create and learn autonomously. They bring their knowledge so that EACH1 can TEACH1.
We invite the parents back at the end for a 'show and tell' to see what their children had created during the session.
We ask the parents to ensure that children arrive appropriately dressed, being creative can be a messy business. They should also arrive WITHOUT a mobile device and prepared to say goodbye at the door. They will also need lunch that does NOT contain nuts.
