Photographic exhibition by K Winter at Joseph Wales Studio in Margate
About this event
Open 11am - 4pm
Photographing these fragile, withering, and discarded flowers becomes an act of love and devotion, giving the photographer a sense of purpose and connection at a time when such things were incredibly scarce.
This exhibition, and book, is about the death of fantastical thinking.
The decomposition process surrounding magical perceptions about the photographer themself and how the world sees them. In the process of doing this work they accidentally fell into the most obvious cliché: learning to love themself.
The photographs are on many layers an unconscious photographic collective of an amateur’s eye on Still Life in situ or as the French call it nature morte (Dead Nature).
There is nothing that is Still in death – beauty is just turning the other cheek.
