Awe | Power Written into the Landscape - A Soundtrack Journey through 'Dune' (2021)
A guided listening experience exploring awe, ritual, and inherited power through Hans Zimmer's Dune score at Margate Arts Club
About this event
A guided listening experience exploring awe, ritual, and inherited power through Hans Zimmer's Dune score.Join us for an intimate two-hour journey across Arrakis, where voices, distorted percussion, and immense orchestral weight make the desert sound like a cathedral. Zimmer's score binds landscape, machinery, ritual, and prophecy until the world feels larger than any person moving through it.Listen for percussion behaving like weather and technology beginning to sound like fate. Notice how the music changes your sense of scale, then ask whether its returning themes promise triumph or carry a warning. The experienceConnect, relax and quietly settle in with 30 other guests in the intimate and comfortable surroundings of the Margate Arts Club.Rather than watching the film, we’ll listen to the score as a story. Expect a focused soundtrack listen, minimal non-distracting visuals and text to set context, and a relaxed discussion about how music creates awe through landscape, ritual, prophecy and power on screen. For Dune fans, soundtrack lovers, film fans, DJs, selectors and anyone interested in intentional listening. The venueThe Margate Arts Club is a joyful, DIY, inclusive, intersectional, community organisation running since 2015.
