About this event
Open Wednesday - Sunday 12 noon - 5pm
Preview - Saturday 21st November, 5pm - 7pm
Works that resist spectacle in favour of proximity, attention, and psychological charge.
In each case, scale does not diminish impact but concentrates it, drawing the viewer closer and slowing perception.
In an era that tends to equate value with monumentality this exhibition invites a mode of looking that is deliberate and attentive, where smallness becomes a form of power rather than limitation.
The artists included approach small painting in markedly different ways, from the diaristic and observational to the symbolic and atmospheric. Together, their works demonstrate how scale can intensify rather than constrain the emotional and formal possibilities of painting.
Featuring works by Katherine Bernhardt, Katherine Bradford, Billy Childish, TM Davy, Tracey Emin, Laura Footes, Natalia Gonzalez Martin, Olivia Guillot, Sophie von Hellermann, Paul Housely, Patrick H Jones, Joline Kwakkenbos, Vicken Parsons, Vanessa Raw, IyunOla Sanyaolu, Antonia Showering, Benjamin Senior, Tim Stoner, Alexandria Tarver and Shaqúelle Whyte.
